A Local Psychiatrist Who Knows Galveston County

Our office is at 1506 Winding Way Drive, Building 104, Suite 304, in Friendswood. We do not have an office in Texas City, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we offer instead is a calm, private clinic with free parking steps from our suites, and a physician with deep roots in this county. Dr. Pedraza completed medical school, her adult psychiatry residency, and a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at UTMB, where she served as Chief Fellow. She founded our clinic so patients would have a nurturing, unhurried place to heal.

Care That Starts With an Accurate Diagnosis

You may be looking for a clear diagnosis, a medication that finally works, or a different approach after several medications have fallen short. Here is how we help with each.

Psychiatric Evaluation and Medication Management

Your first visit is a full psychiatric evaluation. We review your current symptoms, your history, the medications you have tried, and what did or did not help. Dr. Pedraza then builds a treatment plan with you and adjusts it over time. When it can help guide medication choices, we may recommend GeneSight genetic testing, which shows how your genes may affect your response to certain medications.

TMS Therapy When Medication ISN'T Enough

If antidepressants have not brought relief, TMS therapy is a non-drug, non-invasive option. There is no anesthesia, so you can drive yourself home after each session and go about your day. We offer TMS for depression, OCD, and smoking cessation.

Support for the Whole Person

Your plan can also include anxiety treatment, a nutrition and exercise review, and sleep optimization. We also treat ADHD, adjustment disorders, life transitions, binge eating disorder, and autism management. Within visits, we may use cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, supportive therapy, and Christian faith-based counseling for patients who want their faith to be part of care.

What Your Evaluation May Include

  • A review of your current mental health status
  • Your history, including past trauma
  • Pathological and psychological examinations
  • Personality and cognitive testing when needed
  • A short PHQ-2 depression screening you can take before your visit

Local Roots and Coordinated Care for Texas City Families

Dr. Pedraza's entire medical training took place at UTMB in Galveston, the academic medical center that serves Galveston County. Her path into psychiatry began in the same county Texas City patients call home.

Providing Psychiatric Care With Empathy

Patients describe what that looks like in their own words: a doctor who takes her time, a team that stays in touch with your primary care provider, and an office that feels peaceful rather than clinical. That coordination matters when you already see a doctor or counselor closer to home. With your permission, we share updates with your primary care provider and therapist so everyone works from the same plan. Dr. Pedraza is also connected with well-regarded counselors, therapists, and psychologists in the area when you need ongoing talk therapy. Physicians and counselors in Texas City can send patients to us directly through our patient referral form.

Serving Texas City and the Nearby Mainland

For most Texas City patients, the trip is a straight run north on I-45 toward Friendswood. Families in La Marque, Santa Fe, and Galveston Island make a similar drive, and we see patients from across Galveston County and South Houston. If your home or work is closer to us, our pages for patients in Dickinson, League City, and Webster cover the same services.

"I am thankful that I found Dr. Pedraza and her team- Amanda and Jessica. They are all extremely sweet and helpful. I found Dr. Pedraza at a time where I was having a very hard time with my mental health. I didn’t not know how severe it was until I started to get better. I highly recommend Dr. Pedraza. She kept in communication with my PCP and ordered the needed labs that were important. I am in a better place mentally and emotionally and have my life back to enjoy. It’s not easy and you have to do the work and want to get better, it’s doable and Dr. Pedraza helped me every step of the way. TMS is a life changer for me. The atmosphere in their office is so peaceful and serene. As well as the TMS area. Thank you Dr. Pedraza, Amanda and Jessica!"

  • How far is your clinic from Texas City?

Our Friendswood office is about 30 miles from Texas City by car, most of it on I-45. Drive time depends on traffic, so we suggest planning a little extra time for your first visit. Free parking sits right in front of our building, steps from our suites, so getting in and out is simple.

  • How often would I need to drive in for TMS?

A standard TMS course runs daily sessions, five days a week, for four to six weeks, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. At our clinic, each depression session follows a protocol of about 19 minutes. Our weekday hours, 8 AM to 5 PM, make it easier to plan a consistent session time around work, school, or your commute.

  • Can you work with my doctor or therapist closer to home?

Yes. With your permission, we coordinate with your primary care provider, therapist, and any prior psychiatrist. Before your first visit, gather their contact information and a list of your past psychiatric medications, including dosages and why you stopped, so we can request records and avoid repeating what has not worked.

  • Does insurance cover TMS therapy?

It may. Many plans consider TMS after antidepressants have not worked or were not tolerated, and most require prior authorization. Our guide to whether insurance covers TMS therapy in Texas explains what reviewers usually ask for and how to prepare.

  • What should I do in a mental health crisis in Texas City?

If you or someone you love is in immediate danger, call 911. You can also call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at any hour. In Galveston County, the Gulf Coast Center runs a 24-hour crisis hotline at (866) 729-3848 with mobile crisis outreach. Our clinic provides scheduled outpatient care and is not an emergency service.
